Vincent Roussely
Les Clos Loire Sauvignon Blanc
Belle attaque, bof, légèrement moelleux, goûteux, noyau de pêche, miel. .
Touraine is home to some of the Loire Valley's top Sauvignon Blanc values, and this is certainly one of them. The young and passionate Vincent Roussely is the 4th generation of his family to farm vines in Touraine-Chenonceaux. The clay and limestone-flint soils are similar to those found in Sancerre and Pouilly Fume, and this specific zone is one of the best in all of Touraine for Sauvignon Blanc.
In addition, the grapes that go into their Le Clos bottling of Sauvignon Blanc come from the estate's oldest vines....we're talking 80 year old vines here folks. These deep-rooted vines yield a wine with good concentration, deep flavors, and wonderful minerality. Despite the wine's fuller-bodied character, it still retains wonderful natural acidity.
At the end of the day, this is just a wonderful bottle of wine from a fantastic family estate. It's also a great one to enjoy ice cold on a hot and sunny day or served alongside fresher and lighter spring and summer fare. Once those 96 bottles are gone, we will be waiting for the new vintage to be released.
