Viña Cornejo Costas
Don Rodolfo Tannat
Opened this for my youngest daughter, who likes to taste Tannats as they aren’t too common on wine lists, etc. another high-altitude production from Argentina & while dense - it wasn’t overtly “chewy” like some Tannat? Could be the age, as it may have peaked 4-5yrs prior, but provided great, dark fruit - blackberry, red plum & deep fresh red/green pepper. Still stained my teeth, so far from a total waste :)

Feb 15th, 2021Wine needs to breathe. It is too dense and heady on the first day. Second day is much better.

Apr 12th, 2016Thick purply red. Plum and strawberry, cola and musty books on the nose. Almost oily mouthfeel. Thick smooth body, pleasant velvety tannins, I notice sweetness a hair more than acid, but they're very nicely balanced. Brown apricots, black currant, a bit of cranberry and dark cherry. The heavy dried brown apricot lingers appreciably. This is A) Rich, B) Well-made, and C) Different. Love it!!
