Vigne e Vini Varvaglione
Schiaccianoci Negroamaro del Salento
Ruby/ brick in color, and cloudy, with a very wide red/ brick rim.
On the nose, blueberries, cherries, oak, licorice, red currants, bitter vegetables, light vanilla, sage, bitter almonds, bell pepper, alcohol, light black pepper, earth, red candy and cola.
Medium bodied with medium acidity, elegant and smooth, with nice fat legs.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, sweet strawberries, red currants, earth, vanilla, licorice, pine, herbs, bitter vegetables, green pepper, almonds and black pepper.
Medium finish with soft tannins and a bitter ending.
A smooth Italian blend of 85% Negroamaro and 15% Malvasia Nera.
A Good food wine, and drinkable by itself too. Good now, while it's fresh, as aging will not benefit it much.
Pairs well with pasta and red sauce or pepperoni pizza.
I had their Primitivo before, and this is much better.
13.5 % alcohol by volume.
