The 2014 Vieux Château Certan has proven to be a strong performer in recent years, and there has been no change ten years on. Blacker fruit than its peers, plenty of black truffle shavings and a slightly pronounced marine influence. Maybe just a tad more VA than I recall? The palate is medium-bodied with a harmonious and silky smooth entry and fine precision, not a powerful VCC, and very elegant with raspberry, orange rind, tertiary notes and tobacco toward the finish. Wonderful. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year On tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2024)

The 2013 Vieux-Château-Certan has one of the most attractive aromatics amongst the Pomerol intake, red fruit and briary, light floral scents, air and demonstrating more delineation than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, more fruit concentration than the preceding La Fleur-Pétrus, with more energy on the finish that exerts a light grip. One not to overlook. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year On tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2023)

Probably at peak....I had this years ago at the Château, my how she is holding up so well. More Cabernet franc in this vintage likely is the secret sauce.

Refined plummy fruit. Pretty. A little more right now. Needs time.

Grippy. Lovely deep plum with remarkable vigor given its age. Seamless and very balanced. Long. Great

Aromatically lifted, elegant tannins, moderately framed with life and detail remaining. Not a vintage where the typical VCC richness shows, but the tannin profile is true to domaine. Spicebox, leather, tobacco, plumcake, earth and cigar smoke.

Shows a certain freshness on the nose. Oddly enough is has a Burgundy type of allure to it. Light red berry fruit and orange rind. Wine improved with aeration and gained weight. Tannins are super fine make way for a touch of mocha, hickory and feral hog.

The 2010 Vieux Château Certan has a more modern bouquet compared to its peers. There is plenty of high quality new oak that slightly masks the fruit, although it does not overwhelm and should be completely subsumed with bottle age. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. This is very well balanced, though I would have liked a little more substance and grip on the finish. Very fine and classy, but maybe it could have been better? Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal. (Neal Martin, Vinous, April 2020)

Tasted blind. Tawny color, dark and opaque. Notes of mocha, slate stone, smoked meats, blueberries. Seems like a La La - maybe La Turque? Dry and tight in the mouth, but turned more silky as it gained air in the glass. Evolved and showed different characteristics. Added some tobacco leaf, some herbal thing, some menthol. While the nose says Cote-Rotie, the mouth says it's probably not. Lucious and silky, what a treat. Bottle reportedly was VTS fill. This is in no way past it’s prime yet.
