Grower's Reserve California Petite Sirah
Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet plums, cherries, wood, licorice, light vanilla, earth, spices, figs and peppercorn.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, peppercorn, chocolates, tobacco and herbs.
Long finish with round tannins and raspberries.
This 4 year old Petite Sirah is still enjoyable by itself, with nice balance and complexity, and still has enough acidity to hold it all together.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up. An hour in a decanter does it.
I paired it with a cheese plate and dried fruit.
Made with organically grown grapes.
13% alcohol by volume.

My 850th review here. What a journey... Here is a nice Californian Petite Sirah for the occasion.
Dark Inky in color with a short purple rim.
Somewhat muted on the nose with blackberries, figs, cherries, coffee, alcohol, smoke, oak, vanilla, licorice and black pepper.
Full-bodied and still tight, with medium plus acidity and long-legs.
Bone dry on the palate with blackberries, blueberries, cherries, cranberries, raspberries, oak, licorice, tar, dark chocolates, forest floor, green vegetables and lots of peppercorn.
Medium finish with firm, green, bitter tannins and unripened blueberries.
This is a nice Petite Syrah, although still young, but enjoyable already. Not for the faint of heart, but I loved the big tannins on it.
Great to be paired with grilled Meats. I paired it with hard, stinky cheeses, fruits and crackers.
This goes to show, that not every cheap wine is bad. Definitely, above average, and a great weekday red.
Needs at least 90 minutes to open up.
13.7% alcohol by volume.

Fantastic organic red, full-bodied, very fruity but not too sweet. $5.49 @ Trader Joe's
