Dec 8th, 2013This wine is already starting to develop some secondary characteristic. Still has a nice luscious front, good floral and blackberry bouquet as well. Definitely doesn't drink like a 2001, but I could believe a 2004 or 2005. There is a mushroom and plum note here that developed after an hour of being open. Finishes more youthful. Not appreciating the Rutherford dust. Still has some tannin on the back therefore I still think this one will continue to evolve. I would say that this one is on the back side of the hill. Definitely not still on the way up, but I think that prime drinking for this wine was probably a couple of years ago. Solid 93, probably would have been 94 a year or 2 ago. Nice fourth friday wine!

Rutherford- Huge nose of raspberry and licorice. Liqueur like in the mouth with a kiss of oak and smoke. Shows very big in the mouth but enough acid to hold it together. The only flaw is hints of alcohol and furry tannins peek out on the finish. A wine that gives a lot of pleasure and should be enjoyed right now.
