See previous notes going back to November 2018. Can only reiterate from that note what Murray Tyrrell said and that on this occasion I have to disagree with Murray despite all of the incredible Hunter Valley Semillons he made on stainless steel. The oak really compliments this wine in a white Bordeaux style. Still lovely and fresh with the oak adding a vanilla texture. Ripe apple notes on nose and palate. Had my last bottle 50 weeks later on 24/11/21 and it was wonderful. Perfectly integrated French oak with a creamy texture very ripe apple with cashew. Would definitely buy again. Excellent.

Lemon in colour. Another stunningly good Semillon and non Hunter Valley @Ceccherini Cristiano from Kangaroo Island of all places which was recently badly damaged by bushfires. The Islander is owned by Jacques Lurton and family of Cheval Blanc, other right bank wineries and wineries around the world. This wine was more Bordeaux Blanc than Hunter Valley in style with perfectly judged oak giving the wine a rich texture and excellent mouthfeel. Peachy ripe fruit which is unusual for a Semillon. A stunner.

Pale lemon in colour with a tinge of green. Great flavour intensity with a nice waxy texture. Excellent balanced oak influence combined with the citrus fruit. Honeyed nuances. This winery is on Kangaroo Island SA and is owned by the Jacques Lurton family who have estates around the world including Right Bank icon, Chateau Cheval Blanc. Hunter Valley Semillon legend Murray Tyrrell said that barrel fermenting Semillon spoilt the wine and was a waste of good oak. Murray preferred spotless Stainless Steel. After tasting this little gem from The Islander I no longer agree with Murray. Must drink more dry White Bordeaux. An excellent wine from a great year on Kangaroo Island.
