2009 mourvedre from Paso Robles and I'm in love. The nose is everything I want in a red wine: juicy red berries, candied rose petals to add elegance, and a green note that makes me think of whole stem inclusion. The palate is spicy without overwhelming, juicy to the gills and still has a silky elegance to it. This does nothing to dispel my belief that mourvedre is the best grape no one drinks.

Oct 1st, 2015Drinking the 2013 in 2019. Ruby garnet color with thin long legs. Strong bouquet with plums, prunes and dark fruit with an oaky finish. Medium sweetness with low tannins. Flavor starts with current, raisin, plum and raspberry. Light bodied with a smooth finish that ends slightly smoky and earthy. Very nice wine for a warm summer afternoon.
