Samuel Adams (The Boston Beer Company)
Whitewater IPA
Re-reviewer, years ago the CEO Gregg Koch, said he did not want or had any desire to brew IPA's, stated it was a novel type of beer to brew that really did not take any special still to make, well things have changed I guess in his opinion, $$$$ he knows his brewery was loosing out of the market share in craft beer sales, so he undoubtably felt the pressure to brew what he found not to his original thoughts, this originally came out several years ago, like now available in their spring mix pack, also you find it in Single 12 ounce bottles at stores that do mixed packs, most of course do now, well again the last few years Sam Adams literally went full on to embrace the IPA market, putting out a very high number of IPA's done in the West Coast Style, their Rebel Series, but getting back to this beer, one of their first endeavors for a IPA style, and overall it is solid, they add apricot, which gives it a sweet and tart note, hops are slightly Piney and finish clean and dry, I would take this easily over Magic Hat's #9 any day, if you like apricot and enjoy a easy not to bitter IPA, enjoy this one, I like it, not great but good effort for a brewery that does not like making IPA's
