Robert Biale Vineyards
Royal Punishers Rutherford Petite Sirah
Deep inky in color with a purplish rim.
Strong fruity nose with black currants, blackberries, cooked cherries, figs, raisins, vanilla, cedar, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke, beef jerky, spices, coffee, earth, alcohol, light vegetables and black pepper.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs, rich and jammy.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked strawberries, spices, pencil lead, black pepper, leather, licorice, bitter herbs, bell pepper, vanilla, cedar, bell pepper and tobacco.
Long finish with firm tannins and black pepper.
This is a great Petite Sirah from Napa Valley. Well-balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Extracted and rich with nice complexity.
This is a teeth staining red wine with lots of sediments in the glass.
A little hot at the back of the throat, which will go away in a couple of years. This will age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.
I had the 2007 a year ago and it wasn't as good ( the 13 was a much better vintage).
Needs a couple of hours in a decanter to open up and show some tannins.
Delightful and delicious.
14.9% alcohol by volume.

Jan 1st, 2018Finally got an identification from Delectable on this one from 3 months ago... but it was memorable so I still know what it was like! Inky black color and almost sweet alcohol on the nose. And then comes the Petite Sirah fruit and acid at the same time! Bam! Makes you look back in the glass and then stick your nose back in there and say, "I wasn't expecting that!"! Robert Biale has been putting out the more obscure varietals, and doing it well! Love all of their wines, with the best being their Zinfandel varietals.
