This is the only Carignane-based wine in the Napa Valley AVA. 67% Carignane and 33% Petite Sirah from Al Frediani's classic vineyard in Calistoga. Last time I tried this it was a little more savory, but this bottle was showing a bit more of the warm vintage with bigger dark fruit. There was still a gorgeous underlayer of savory herbs, but it didn't distract from the beautiful fruit. The Archive is the 2nd label of Relic Wines by winemaker Mike Hirby. He's one of the most consistently great winemakers in the US.
