Slate and citrus - very mineral. Quite a saline note to finish off - a little much actually. Stephen Reinhardt, the Riesling specialist from The Wine Advocate, said “black currant aromas” which I didn’t get and a surprising descriptor for a Riesling in my experience. Had the final bottle 22 weeks later on 13th October 2023. Developing more peachy characters with age as the citric acid tames. A very enjoyable off dry to dry Riesling.

Last time I had one of these was 4 years ago in November 2017. Similar tasting note without the petillance. A very good quaffing dry German Riesling (12.5%ABV). Slatey minerality with yellow peachy notes. Tasted another 18 weeks later on 5th May 2022. Nothing to write home about to be honest. Just a good dry German Riesling quaffer. Notes as above. 88 points. Tasted another one on 28th November 2022 with consistent notes as above.

Some petillance in the glass on pouring. Quite rich in colour for a young Riesling being pale to mid Gold. Notes of fresh fruit salad. Not as complex as expected for a $46 Wine but obviously very young. At 12.5% Alc a very dry finish.

Mostly elder berry. Some apple. Doesn’t linger.

Lots of lime, honey, orange blossom. Intense but great sweeter option.

Young vines from the GG vineyards of Pechstein, Jesuitengarten & Kirchenstück, blended together & vinified as a ‘simple’ Ortswein.
Spicy nose with kumquat, apricot, white peach, some lime but also some volcanic minerality. It’s Pfalz alright, yet not overly rich and with a bit of sharpness.
On the palate this is razor sharp. Electric acidity, like & lemon, with a mineral edge to it. But then the riper fruit comes to shine, with green apricot, some green grapefruit, peach. Contrary to many Rieslings that start broad and then finish sharp & tight this tries starts sharp, then shows a bit of ripeness & breadth and then finishes with a mineral edge.
Shows the 2021 acidic character for sure.
Far from a GG, but for a Ortswein this is quite remarkable! And for 12€, too!

Not for me. Too sweet. Pear, honey crisp apple, and gasoline on the nose. Honey, Granny Smith apple, and pineapple on the palate.
