May 18th, 2020Lithe and with good body and firm acidity propping it up. Medium ruby with no evident bricking. Nose is all roasted plum and blackberry, with an emphasis on the “roasted”. A little must and damp earth and a good bit of mint and savory herb with a dusting of bittersweet cocoa. The palate follows as medium bodied with good attack and long finish but a bit thin in the middle and the heat starts to come through at the end, along with some glycerin. A nice bottle that has held up well. I think this may be the apotheosis of aged Zinfandel, along with old Ridge perhaps, and while enjoyable, I think I prefer them quite a bit younger. A good experiment though...
