This is my second time rating this Quimay so you can tell I’m a fan. Some California Pinot fans will NOT like this if they are expecting a fruit bomb. Being a totally different style, this is high acid Pinot lending to a very refreshing lively wine. Dried unsweetened cherries, pomegranate, a touch of cola, whisper of earth, enveloped in a more back palate dry structure. This is also very different from burgundy’s in that the acidity is higher giving it more of a bright feel with less forest floor & clay. Almost hints of lemon peel hidden on the end. It’s not exactly sour but it’s definitely not fruity or earthy. Very unique.

Apr 7th, 2020This was the IP Rio Negro vintage. Really dig this style of Pinot noir which you don’t see too often. Explosive fruit, high acidity. Usually it’s one or the other, this one has both. Also, because it’s so reasonably priced you tend to appreciate it more. It’s a nice starter wine with cheese.
