Smokey oak nose. Significant spice that lingers, cigar flavoring and oak overtones. Rich fruit flavors of raspberry and black berry. These fruit flavors do add a touch of sweetness, but it is mild. Low tannins.

Better unaerated. Nice woody, campfire tasting wine. Bright fruit balances the wood nicely. Decent aftertaste though short. Fairly dry.

Dense brick-red in color. Black pepper, bacon, butterscotch, canned green bean, floral and vanilla notes in nose. Layered flavors of butter, raspberry, blackberry, green bean, mustard greens and wood in mouth. Spice and anise notes in finish, mildly bitter seed tannins in aftertaste with some tactile astringency as well from ethanol. Veggie notes are present but mild in intensity; how you feel about those should determine how much you like this wine. It's not a big Zin, but it's got a lot going on.

My go-to Zin. Nice balance of fruit and spice with just a hint of smoky oak.
