Profound. Still powerful, yet with elegance and grace that belies its ancient wisdom. Supremely balanced between dried plums and blackberries smeared across a weathered leather saddle with a cigar box in the corner of the room and Coltrane wafting through the clouds of sandalwood.

2014 sampled
3/6.5/9.25 out of 100 = 94.5
So much going on here and difficult to concentrate. Masterfully integrated berry, tannin and oak. Long smooth finish but plenty of development to go. Will require a very long decant to appreciate fully.

No tasting notes necessary. Almost unreal flavor, textures capable of restructuring your brain cells. This wine almost ruined me by raising the bar impossibly high for everything else that followed. Now regretting I sold my double magnum of '70 in 1997. "Dark chocolate-covered berries, fresh moss, leathery clay bound in a sensory rush that lingers all evening". This is what separates the classics from so many wines; One thinks of it and can taste it for the rest of your life.

OMG!! Such an amazing wine, opens up very very well! Opens up very luscious and full of bold fruit. Tons of plum, and raspberry, with great undertones of cherry, and vanilla. Nice dark current, dark tobacco leaves, with harsh tannins. Finished like silk.
