Stonewell Barossa Shiraz
See 2 previous notes from 2019 and 2021. Dusty notes of plum and red and black berries. Can still taste remnants of the oak which had largely integrated. Coffee grounds. Rich and medium to full bodied on the palate. Notes of chocolate and blackberry. This wine screams old vine Barossa Shiraz which is what it is. I will try and leave the last one for a year or 2 or 3.

Jan 15th, 2023Deep Ruby in colour - very dark for a 15 year old red with no bricking at this stage. Blackberry and chocolate with ripe black fruits on nose and palate - not as pruney as previous Stonewell notes. Lush and full bodied from selected old vine Shiraz vineyards in the Barossa - in the Greenock district amongst others. This is Barossa Shiraz at its best from a good vintage. Hard not to like - warm and comforting - perfect for a cooler night with pork chops.

May 7th, 2021Inky black in colour- very dense. Aromas of ripe plum becoming pruney. On the full bodied palate masses of ripe black fruits Plum and Blackberry. Even at 13 years I cannot see this wine developing a lot of complexity in the future. Astringent drying tannins. For lovers of full bodied ripe Barossa Shiraz. Loved these wines in my 30’s but now in my 60’s my tastes have become more Burgundian.

Nov 3rd, 2019i'm most certainly not here to advise winemakers or bring their style up to speed.
but i can say imho overseas, especially many australian and californian winemakers produce much more elegant and harmonic liquids these days than let's say 10 years earlier, to leave supermarkt items out in the cold.
this specific wine is an example of barossa terroir, of syrah AND of ripe but cool fruit (predominantly cassis) - not jammy at all. full of spices but not too loud, herbs, fascinating mouthfeel.
well done!
