A stunning example of old vine Barossa Shiraz from a good vintage. More refined and not as full bodied as a year ago. Has changed from its 17th to its 18th birthday. Still maintaining some structure but mainly resolved seductive tannins creating a seamless texture. Plum, chocolate, liquorice and a touch of mint. Not as pruney as before. At its peak and perfect with Roast Pork.

Still a dark Ruby almost opaque. Ripe dark plum notes verging on prune. Blackberry and Dark Chocolate. Touches of licorice and mint. Typical old vine Barossa - a lush texture from old vines and full bodied. Great length and resolved tannins. So delicious now I can’t see that further cellaring will change things markedly for the better.

Ripe plum, prune coffee ground notes. For Old Vines from the Barossa I was expecting more complexity at 13 years. I have loved Stonewell for many years but now looking for different experiences.

Secondary flavours are starting to emerge: earth, meets old wood, dark chocolate - and yet a primacy still reigns. Plum, hoi sin like, sitting deep in the wine.

Could not be anything but top shelf Barossa Shiraz. From the very good 2004 vintage nose of luscious plum cake with a similar palate of black and blue fruits. Excellent intensity of flavour with silky smooth tannins and medium acid. Will last for another 10 years but hard to see it more enticing than it is now.

Another true to type Full bodied Barossa Shiraz. Plum and chocolate. Past all that plush fruit hard to get much complexity even with 11 years of age. A delicious if somewhat simple drink. 17.5-

Emptying some old bottles 😁 An aged Shiraz from top producer/year that's just turned over its peak & lost its punch πŸ˜• Drink up πŸ‘ Was 92-94 a few years back 😏

🍷 Dark light blocking ruby

πŸ‘ƒ Aromas of sherry, fig, prunes & sweet black fruit - almost oxidised w/ chocolate whiffs

πŸ‘„ Full body of deep stewed dark figgy & prune infused berry fruit with a touch of chocolate w/ all tannins fully integrated

🎯 Long slight sweet dark fruit finish with prune & fig end
