Paul Hobbs
CrossBarn Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Medium lemon color, aromas of stone and citrus fruits with floral and mineral notes. On the palate flavors of peach and pears with citrus wrapped in a smooth nutty creamy texture. Medium+ finish, lively acidity, ending with fruit notes and savory citrus character. Nice value!

Feb 4th, 2021It is light but potent enough to gather interest at approximately the rate of—wait I’d have to check my stocks to make a good analogy—but it has a slender body, gracefully bruised apples (bruise but make it art!) lemons and something of a hint at salinity that makes a friendly sip alone or with a munch.

Nov 18th, 2019Clear and clean deep straw yellow. Aromas of stone and citrus fruits. Palate was Smooth with Apple, Peach and ripe Pear. The wine shows some depth, good balance and acidity, and finishes with mineral tones.

Aug 17th, 2015Very old world in its approach. Judicious use of oak and tropical inclinations. Guava, pineapple, citrus, and Granny Smith. Very good structure, all around, good new world Chardonnay.

Aug 17th, 2015The '14 CrossBarn Chardonnay looks golden in the glass and smells nice and ripe. Peaches, pineapples and lemons burst forth like so much fruit basket. The palate shines as brightly, with wonderful fruit led by apples and lemons. The creamy quality resulting from malolactic fermentation and aging sur-lie stands opposite an eye-popping acidity. Pair this with salads, soups and seafood anytime, but it can handle a pork chop or roasted chicken just as effortlessly. Aging, btw, is 90% steel. As full and rich in the mouth as this is, I never would have guessed that.

An odd wine. Super lemon-lime nose reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc, same fruit on palate but very round and not as angular as the nose promises. Still good acid but has been put through full ML. Strikes me as over-manipulated.

Feb 12th, 2015This wine was stinky,.....and not in a good way. Couldn't figure it out. It wasn't a fault. This just didn't deliver on the palate either. Really sour fruit. No fruit, wood, acid integration. Don't know if time will heal this one.
