A whiff of fresh green beans on the initial pour, blackberry, soft tannins and lactic finish. Needs time to open, you’d think, but it never does. Savory, lightly structured, very contemporary and European but not the Italian immigrant style of yesterday, nor a fruit-bomb rendition. Times change, apparently; it’s a nice enough wine but not what your parents or grandparents might have made out of these grapes. Disappointing in that respect…
