I love the '08 Howell Mountain but the Mt. Veeder is tight as hell even after a couple hours of air. Audouze for several hours and decant or hold for (4?) years....

Decanted for 8 plus hours. Another Gem, opened wonderfully, Currants on the nose was smoother than the Anomaly

I think this was Wine Spectators wine of the year and it was a good choice. Too bad it made others aware of this great, very affordable wine. More of them to come.....

Not an over powering nose, but floral notes emerge behind lighter scents of dark fruit and chocolate. Not a ton of heat for 14.8% alcohol, a good sign... Complex and layered in the mouth, a bit more bite than I'd expect, which means I'm probably drinking this too soon. As it rests it begins to open, it's high class cabernet with a rustic long finish...Additional note one hour later: this wine has exploded. The bite is gone and it's now a perfectly woven fruit bomb with layers of truffle, tobacco, and dark chocolate. Great mouth feel and finish. Wow.

Amazing nose of blueberry pie and cedar box. Smooth all the way through with just a touch of tannin turning the corner at the end. In a perfect drinking window. The #1 mountain QPR in my view. You can set your watch to these folks.

My favorite domestic cab. Mountain flowers on the nose almost like dryer sheets. Finishes on the horizon.
