Oakridge
Single Block Release 864 Drive Block Funder & Diamond Vineyard Chardonnay
Last bottle of this very impressive Chardonnay. Still very flinty and burnt match on the nose with a slightly sweeter palate than the last note. That grapefruit in its youth is now more yellow peach. Technical notes - using the P58 clone. All grapes were hand harvested prior to whole bunch pressing to French Oak puncheons - 30% new oak. Malolactic conversion was prevented. Drinking at its peak - made by one of Australiaโs leading exponents of Chardonnay In David Bicknell. This is world class!

Oct 15th, 2023Pale lemon in colour. Very flinty - burnt match sulphidic notes on the nose yet peachy stone fruit on the light + weight palate which has medium + intensity. Really good. David Bicknell makes terrific Chardonnay. Tasted again 9 months later in early October 2022 with consistent notes. Those funky burnt match sulphides are a hallmark of this wine and really stand out - but they work. Stone fruit notes coming through on the palate. Handling 11 years of age with ease.

Jan 30th, 2022On the improve perhaps? Really lovely. Acid ingrained with other phenolic and textural elements. Fine yet generous in flavour. Ripe stone fruit and the kernel. First class. ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ

Jun 21st, 2019Ripper Oz Chard. In a nice drinking window now but itโs acid spine gives the impression that it will still be in great shape in a few years time. Great stuff.

Mar 3rd, 2018Friday arvo Options.
I played the man on label tier and missed the 864 calling it mid level.
Cracking wine nonetheless.
