Last bottle of this very impressive Chardonnay. Still very flinty and burnt match on the nose with a slightly sweeter palate than the last note. That grapefruit in its youth is now more yellow peach. Technical notes - using the P58 clone. All grapes were hand harvested prior to whole bunch pressing to French Oak puncheons - 30% new oak. Malolactic conversion was prevented. Drinking at its peak - made by one of Australiaโ€™s leading exponents of Chardonnay In David Bicknell. This is world class!

Pale lemon in colour. Very flinty - burnt match sulphidic notes on the nose yet peachy stone fruit on the light + weight palate which has medium + intensity. Really good. David Bicknell makes terrific Chardonnay. Tasted again 9 months later in early October 2022 with consistent notes. Those funky burnt match sulphides are a hallmark of this wine and really stand out - but they work. Stone fruit notes coming through on the palate. Handling 11 years of age with ease.

On the improve perhaps? Really lovely. Acid ingrained with other phenolic and textural elements. Fine yet generous in flavour. Ripe stone fruit and the kernel. First class. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ

Ripper Oz Chard. In a nice drinking window now but itโ€™s acid spine gives the impression that it will still be in great shape in a few years time. Great stuff.

Every 4 years Langtons conduct their Classification tasting. There are 3 Categories starting with Excellent then Outstanding and finally Exceptional. No notes but this is in the Excellent category. Back in September 2018.

Friday arvo Options.
I played the man on label tier and missed the 864 calling it mid level.
Cracking wine nonetheless.
