This is so sexy. A dark staining purple with wide edges. Showing a gorgeous nose of black cherries, moist earth, cassis, and fresh herbs. I could seriously just take this in all day, what a fabulous nose. What is this? I’m not used to a Napa Valley Mourvèdre quite like this. This baby is lean and mean. Sexy and sleek, this clocks in at 13.9 when I was expecting upwards of 15. But that’s not really what Newfound does. And of course, it’s that Mount Veeder fruit, as well. As youthful as this is it still shows nice refinement and complexity. The herbal elements add to the depth of this baby. Still so young but already so beautiful, this is such a fun wine. On the palate, wild strawberries and plums mix with smoke and more herbs. Minimal oak and a touch of spice on the medium to long finish. Outstanding.
