Navarro Vineyards
Cuvée Traditional Anderson Valley Dry Gewürztraminer
One of my favorite varietals from one of my favorite producers. How’s the 2021 dry version? Pale yellow white, excellent clarity. Aromas of white flower, pineapple and locust (the plant, not the insects). In the mouth, spice, lychee, pineapple and lemon with real length in all four flavors. Nice crisp finish with a little but pleasant skin astringency. A winner. The winery’s tasting notes include peach, citrus and honeysuckle (too much experience backpacking amongst the mountain locust trees for me, I suppose; that’s my honeysuckle standard). They also have an interesting discussion of their judicious use of skin contact in this single white wine they make. More love for this wine, please; year after year it remains something special. Decant for at least 15 minutes when the fresh peach flavor becomes unmistakable.
