Oldest winery in New Zealand, so they claim. Missionaries from the French Catholic Church settled near Napier, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand back in 1851 and started making wine for sacrament, communion. Now it is one of the largest wineries, big business. Well over a 100,000 cases per year. The wine however, was good. Especially their Cab/Merlot blend. It was rich in taste, expressive fruit of plum, currant and dark cherry. Tobacco tannins. Well balanced with a soothing finish.
