Oct 24th, 2015Wow. This 2012 Snakepit made by Medlock Ames could be easily described as a gentle giant. Vanilla, cranberry and oak spice on the nose make this wine seducing. The real shock comes when it hits the palate. Bold red fruit is so well blended between the Merlot, Malbec and Cab Sav that it hits like the first notes of an orchestra, strong and soulful. Excellent cranberry and cooked raspberry are backed up with just a touch of licorice spice leading to a long spiced finish which is still somehow gentle and alluring, it begs another sip. This 2012 Snakepit has completely won me over.
