Could use a little more acid, and soul. But nice.

A tasty Barbera. Don't pair with a smoky steak off the grill, but it would pair well with a bolognese or prosciutto & melon appetizer. A touch of tartness, a fair bit of oak, but drinking well and full of fruit. Kind of like a funkier Merlot. This needs at least an hour of air.

Slightly thin and lacking structure. Nice compromise of fruit and acidity with strong blueberry, dried dark fruits, and cassis. Opens into clove and more fruits yet presents as a little thin.

Super Barbera. This is better than every day. More depth. A little wider palette. Good stuff.

Paired with braised local beef short ribs & mushrooms with mashed potatoes (with reduced braising liquid), asparagus (braised with Clos du Bois Petite Sirah Knights Valley and beef broth). Really a wonderful pairing. Medium weight, cherry candy and dark red fruit. Nice acidity and balance after one hour decant. Some spice. Decent length on the finish.

After the initial baby poop nose, it mellowed out to a nice glass to pair with a meal
