Markus Molitor
Haus Klosterburg Pinot Noir Rosé
My first German 🌹 and from a produce of great Riesling.
The color is not very appealing - gold/yellow hues. I smell rose hips, tangerine, red grapefruit/pith.
Nice weight and texture for a rose, I tried it at 19c and the acids over dominated, now after being open a few hours and chilled to 9c I can enjoy texture, flavor and then acid and a slight effervescence.
The citrus notes carry through to the tongue, softened with honey. It's a good balance. Unlike other old world or new world rosé- something about it reminds me of Grüner veltlinnger, maybe the medium length herbal finish.
The longer the bottle is open the more it is showing and going on me- which is a trait I found of Markus Molitor riesling as well.

Even better than the 2015 version. Lots of pinot noir typicity with red berries and slightly tart profile keeping the wine light on its feet but maintaining good complexity. Versatile with food but good on its own as well. Great effort from Markus Molitor
