Hmm it's been several vintages ago, but I remember this wine having more bass, more animality. This bottle was more in the camp of "let's make cru Beaujolais style wine out of everything" that has become a trope in California. Don't get me wrong, when done correctly that can be excellent and so refreshing. But it can also easily be too simple, grapey and boring like this bottle. 🥀

Complex earthy red, definitely feed it and give it some air before drinking

Juicy, lip-smacking good; perfect pairing for tacos on a hot Texas afternoon. Ripe cherries, plums, sweet tobacco, cloves, nuanced licorice.

Wanted a little more from this, absolutely love Lioco and what they do. Typically such great value from this producer. To me this wine was like Beaujolais, a bubble gum nose with a sweetness. For a couple more dollars they make a Carignan that is amazing, was expecting this to be similar to that with 93% of this being Carignan. For $20 it is good value but for me I’d rather go with a Rhone for table wine, gotta admit though I will give it a second chance because of Lioco track record.
