It was different once, before phyloxera there were 9000ha in the Yonne region in northern Burgundy alone. This is where the name of the cuvée comes from. L'icaunais means inhabitant of the Yonne.

Tight, heavy saline and hot at first. Opens after ten minutes into green strawberry with mineral lacing. Slight ash on the nose.
