Sunset. Fixed my backup generator with string (bad idea?), now let's open this bottle! ...the generator quit again. :\ Success or set back, wine seems fitting. Candles lit, let's see what we have here. Pécharmant of Bergerac AOC (with unique soil of red clay, flint & gravel) promises more structured reds. Smooth. Aromas of mulberry pie. Cassis & cherries land on the palate, soft tannins, long finish. But like the light from my candles the focus is diffuse & dwindles--with age, it may not evolve as promised.

An area bordering Bergerac, and a step up in class from there. Smooth, mid weight, fruit enough and tannin under control. Drinkable, which after spending 6 days just south of Bergerac trying to find ok local reds is something of a triumph.
