While a close relative of Syrah, it doesn't feature so prominently the savory characteristics I love so well about that grape. Instead it highlights a twinkle of blackberry-bramble, notes of taught plum, and something shimmery--as if it has captured all the purest intentions of a rainbow sheen on the surface of a slow-roasted Prime Rib, observed under candlelight.
