Kurtatsch Cortaccia (Michael Chiarrelo)
Südtirol Alto Adige Lagrein
The nose shows a bit of herbaceous notes, along with raspberries, blackberries and green bell pepper notes. I could have easily mistaken it for a cab franc. There is a tiny savoury note too, lurking in the back. The palate is medium bodied, with a delicious blackberries-raspberries stew note all along, a velvety mouthfeel that is slightly disrupted by gently drying tannins in the rear. The finish is long, fruity, with a nice savoury note, an rides on a tannic layer until the very end. The palate and finish remind me very much of my beloved Fronton 100% négrette wines from Domaine Le Roc. Good stuff 👍🏻

Jun 14th, 2022Moldy at first. Sour cherry, vanilla (hint of candy first, though), some light oxidant and forest berry. I got some chocolate at a time. The acidity is balanced. Color is an intense dark ruby that scatters electric reflections across the table. I like bolder Lagrein but this is a good smooth wine. Alto Adige is one of my favorite wine regions in Italy. I paired it with handmade Linguine allo Scoglio (I like red better than white over fish plates).

May 18th, 2020Local red variety Lagrein. Nice merger between deep, bold , fruity and acidity. Entry level wine so good things to come...
