It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Here is a beautiful Merlot blend from Israel.

Dark ruby in color with a wide brick rim.

Earthy nose of blueberries, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, tobacco leaf, forest floor, earth, graphite, dark coffee and vinaigrette.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with black plums, blueberries, currants, vanilla, wood, spices, peppercorn, chocolates, tobacco, graphite, dark coffee, vinaigrette, Mediterranean spices and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very nice Bordeaux blend from Israel. Nicely balanced with great complexity and mouthfeel.

Good by itself or with food. Good right out of the bottle and got more complex as it opened up (90 minutes).

Peaking now and will be good in the next few years.

This 11 year old is delicious. Reminds me of a 20 year old Left Bank Bordeaux.

Thank you Oren for sharing this with me.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Aged for 18 months in New French oak barrels. Hand picked and night harvested. Kosher.

14% alcohol by volume.

94 points.

$45 (current vintage)
