Keuka Spring Vineyards
Classic Riesling

A Finger Lakes native, I've tried hundreds of Finger Lakes wines over the past 30 years and, with few exceptions, am not a fan of Finger Lakes Semi-Dry Reislings. I'm a full-bodied, blackberry-ish Shiraz/Syrah/Malbec person, so Finger Lakes Semi-Dry Rieslings are just not my jam; but I try them all anyway because that's what we do when friends from out of town come to visit. And such was the case when I discovered -- and very much enjoyed -- this one. It is smooth and fruity; a little sweeter than the regional Reislings, but not in a sugary way -- more like a more mellow, sweeter side of semi-dry. More like I can enjoy the flavor of the grapes without interference from the oak or tannins. It's fresh, floral, fragrant and lovely. I bought two bottles at the tasting room and went back for a case to have on hand for guests and hostess gifts. And I realize I'm not a typical wine reviewer; but then again, this is not a typical Finger Lakes Reisling. Cheers, and enjoy!
