Jessup Cellars
Napa Valley Zinfandel
Figured it was time for our dogs to make their Delectable debut after seeing @Carl Fischer 's photogenic pups!
As for this wine, it is my favorite Zinfandel. Always has been. Don't see how something can beat it. For the '14 vintage, they moved away from Napa and sourced from Alexander Valley...was hesitant it wouldn't live up to past vintages, but I was relieved. Ruby red in to the glass. A rockin bouquet that can be smelt far away of boysenberries, blueberries, and black licorice. So beautifully integrated on the palate with candied almonds, cherry pie, and Cedar. If anyone thinks they've tasted a mind blowing zin, I'd love to know so I could compare it against this. Love all of Jessup's wine.

Pours Crimson in color. ON THE NOSE: brown spices, dark Berry, brown sugar. ON THE PALATE: blueberry, cola, clove. Medium body medium (+) finish. It opens up to an even better wine. As it opens it becomes more jammy and a pinch of menthol comes through

Apr 9th, 2016Updating some tasting notes after my trip to Napa a few weeks back.
This is the benchmark upon which I judge all other zins. This is zin epitomized. Juicy, fruity but not overpowering. All kinds of berries.

Pours red. White pepper, raspberry and a bit of cherry aromas. Berry jam upfront in flavor followed by cherry. Slightly hot in alcohol but not overpowering with a very long finish.

Apr 11th, 2013A little cheating with fortification, but bold and structured enough to carry it. Very yummy for those days you just wanna eat your wine.

Oct 25th, 2017This had a very bright flavor, struggling for a descriptor, maybe tart cherry, but not acidic.
