High alcohol on the nose and palate was very difficult to get by. All other structural components were medium and after an hour open I got some chocolate, faint red fruit, and faint herbs. This is neither an elegant nor complex wine. #rasteau #southernrhone #grenache

JL Southern Rhone tasting 11/15/16. Interesting floral yet earthy nose of purple flowers and leaves. Palate that's almost sweet and vanilla but turned out there's no oak. Long finish that's earthy with hints of sweet fruits but still balanced. $17. Apparently not quite typical of Rasteau. Tastes hotter than the 13% ABV.
