This vineyard was one of the first in the Hudson Valley, started by Everett Crosby on the side of High Tor mountain in Rockland County, NY on an old Dutch estate (Van Orden) where grapes had been grown since the 1700's. One wine historian has said that Crosby's "red wines...represented an enormous breakthrough" and were by far the best on the east coast. "The precedent set by Crosby represents an important period in the viticultural history of the Hudson Valley." (Leon Adams)(label art by Henry Varnum Poor)
