Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Nice nose, reminded me of Côtes du Rhône. Fruity with blueberries, currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, peppercorn, leather, chocolates and smoke.
Medium plus in body and soft, with medium acidity and long legs.
Fruity on the palate with plums, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, earth, spices, herbs, cola and black pepper.
Long finish with soft, smooth tannins.
A very enjoyable GSM from Paso Robles, California. Balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Not very complex, but not simple either. A good sipping wine, and also works well with food.
I paired it with fried chicken hearts and a charcuterie board.
A blend of 43% Grenache, 23% Syrah, 23% Mourvedre and 11% Tannat. A small production of only 2300 cases.
14.8% alcohol by volume.

Apr 8th, 2015Well made. Paso fruit forward. Ripe. Smooth. Pretty, if a bit too much oak for my preference. Best served on the cool side. Highly drinkable (aka I drank the whole bottle in an hour. By myself. Oops.)
