1981. Totally unexpected pleasure! About 10 years ago, my wife and I received a box of wine that her Aunt and Uncle had bought in the 80’s to fill in the wine rack in their entertainment center. I remember this bottle sitting in the light above the TV almost 30 years ago. The box contained a couple California reds and a German Auslese that were still good, but this bottle and several white Zinfandel were banished to a basement corner for future experiments, I guess... The wine level was about a half inch low. The cork for this bottle was solid, but it crumbled when I tried to remove it. The aromas and flavors remind me of a sherry without the salinity or alcohol, and bruised green apple. It has mild sweetness with a thin mouthfeel. Paired great with homemade Kung Pao Chicken.
