Been a while since a red wine struck me like this. Made me think in a certain way. It's not a fancy wine, not powerful, not opulent or showy or "wow..." but what it is is fucking delicious. And it is complex. And different. And it has depth. It is all those things yet light as a feather, drinkable, which of course prevents it from being taken seriously, since we all know that "no pain, no gain," as the rule pertains to wine, or "bigger is better." My preference is for balanced wine, some fruit, some earth, some mineral, not too heavy or hot, a sense of surprise, and a beginning, middle, and end. This country wine does it beautifully.

first impression was kids strawberry yogurt, leather & smoky notes, some turbidity, licorice, some vinegar notes, but not over powering.

Something about this wine had me going "oh!" over and over. Different and complex with definite licorice. Really delicious example of this varietal I'm coming to really love.

It's meh - not too interesting, but fairly easy to drink. I'm generally not a Pinot fan, so could be why it's not great IMO.
