Greenock Creek
Roennfeldt Road Shiraz
Wow. This is aged Australian Shiraz at its finest. So rich, dense, voluptuous and flavor packed...all at 17/18 yrs old! As it was being poured, you could smell the eucalyptus/mint notes from half a table away. Incredibly perfumed, alongside dark chocolate covered cherries and blue and black fruit compote. On the palate it retained the Andes mint-like sweetness with black cherry liqueur, tar, mixed berry pie and fig. Sporting an ABV of 16.5% (!), it didn’t come across hot at all. Powered through being open a couple hours without a problem. No rush here. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing @joe leatherwood .

Jan 24th, 2020Best Australian Shiraz I think I've ever had and I can say that with absolute confidence. At almost 20 years of age, this one is something special. Nose of eucalyptus and roasted black fruit. Cedar. Entry still has sweeter roasted blackberry and tar. This is a monster. I was getting some coconut and chocolate. Tasted like a girl scout Samoa cookie. And that is an absolute compliment since that is my favorite. Finish with roasted tannin which is a bit soft but still very present. Lots of black pepper on the finish. Amazing. I could have downed the whole thing myself, but I had to share. Darn it! Drink now or you could probably hold this another 10 years!
