Les Marelles Crozes Hermitage White Rhone Blend
Ovenbird w M and Ritchie. Ripe and rich. Paired well with the ankimo.
60% Roussanne, 40% Marsanne. Organic. Marsanne was aged in oak and the Roussanne in stainless steel. Tank sample.
Tasted blind. Subtle nose with a waxy honeyed note. A tropical note to the ripe palate, which is opulent and has a honeycomb creamy buttery finish. Nice weight and just enough acidity to balance the richness. 2019, JR16
A 60-40 blend of Roussanne and Marsanne, respectively, the 2019 Crozes Hermitage Blanc les Marelles is a bit brassy in hue, with scents of poached pear and ripe melon. The Marsanne component is aged in wood, so there's a bit of cinnamon-clove spice as well. Medium to full-bodied, it's round and expansive in the mouth, then finishes on a note of crushed stone. I'd opt for drinking this young. 2019, RP88
