Aromas of citrus and pineapple juice. Fermented in a clay amphora on Skins with no Malolactic Fermentation. No oak. This wine making gives another level of freshness, intensity and minerality. An excellent wine from one of Australia’s pre-eminent wine makers, Steve Flamsteed. Winery says cellar up to 6 years - I cannot see my bottles lasting that long!

Sep 29th, 2018Made by one of Australia’s higher achieving Wine makers in Steve Flamsteed. This single Vineyard Chardonnay was fermented entirely in a clay egg vessel. It also had no malolactic and no fining or filtration. An experimental wine for Giant Steps but Steve must be happy with it as I understand he has ordered a few more Eggs. First impressions were of a Skinnsy handmade “natural “ Chardonnay. Only 100 x 6 bottle cases made Notes of mineral and pineapple juice. Very pure and fresh but lacks something. Expected more to be honest. Not for neophytes.
