Still bright and racy eight years later. Cranberry, cedar, eucalyptus, bell pepper, and minerals. Medium plus tannins, medium alcohol, and high acid. I’m thinking a meatloaf, bbq chicken, or bbq ribs pairing. Not really a stand alone sipping wine.

Time seems to be mellowing this 50/50 Malebec/Merlot blend towards the merlot side. The color is inky dark red. The nose is still big with prune and stewed fig but slightly astringent. It starts big in the mouth with cedar, tobacco and black fruit. In the middle the tobacco takes over. You would expect more tannin in the finish with a wine this big, but the tannin is medium with acidic cherry poking through. Tart cherry and cranberry linger long after everything else is gone. The balance still isn't quite right for a sipping red, but I think this would pair just fine with ribs, meatloaf, or a hamburger. Time will tell.

Tart raspberry with mineral notes and a peppery finish. Quite drinkable, but pretty straightforward. A tad more acid would be nice.

Bright and metallic with tart red fruit and mineral notes. Rather tightly wound with a typical central coast peppery finish.
