A sleeper of a wine. 2013 has a personality all of its own. Velvet texture with cassis, under ripe plum and red currants. The type of Merlot that a Pinot Noir drinker should try so they understand the irony of Sideways.

Not very bold on the nose or palate; matter fact just a bit watered down. I was really hoping for more. There are nodes of oak, cinnamon, and vanilla with predominant tart cherries. A let down because I was looking for a big full-bodied red; not getting that at all. I suppose I’ll have to hope more for the next bottle.
