Feb 8th, 2021More like a fine Napa cab. Plum, blackberry, licorice, fresh herbs, light pepper spices, cigar box, and vanilla. On the palate it’s warm, gentle, and full of layered flavors, strung together by round but streaking acidity. Fine grained tannins.
Quite elegant, a word I don’t usually associate with Zin. Should continue to evolve over the next 5 years or so.

Coming from St. Helena this is a more cab styled Zin than what you’d find in the Russian River Valley. It’s less peppery than most zins, and has very well developed/subtle tannins. It’s great if you want a full-bodied wine paired with a rich, creamy pasta.
