A quite aromatic wine, with the merlot shining through. However the cabernet has centre stage on the palate. The red fruit flavours are earthy in characteristic, with a hint of tobacco, coffee, burnt toffee, cedaery oak and a graphite minerality adding some welcome complexity. The fine powery tannins are well integrated. The wine is still slightly acidic and lacks a little in overall balance. Quite nice on it’s own, superb with BBQ’d lamb cutlets.
