2015 vintage tasted in 11/2018. Syrah-like inky purple core with a crimson rim. Ripe bramble fruit and blueberry aromas are subtler than would be expected based on its appearance. An impressive concentration of ripe fruit up front, tannins are present and young. What’s most striking about this wine is its concentration, which in my experience up to now is a rare quality in a Virginia red. It is also impressively balanced. This is the closest thing to a right-bank Bordeaux I’ve had out of Virginia. That said it’s not the most aromatic wine and it is still tasting quite young. I will be purchasing a few more bottles to cellar for sure.

Nov 20th, 2018Very impressed. The best Virginian wine we’ve had, usually its tough to find wine in VA that can compete with California, this can. Smooth tannins. Deep, rich.
