El Terroir Old Vines Garnacha
Quite possibly the purest expression of Garnacha I can recall ever tasting. Exotic and spicy. Good tannin. Wonderfully balanced. Just great

Jul 19th, 202012 months in 2nd&3rd use French oak.
Made 30% less as very hot so many grapes had too much alcohol so they left many bunch on the vine.
This is slightly lighter than the 10' in mineral intensity, but there is some really powerful fruit here and with a very attractive freshness again with some lovely background herbal notes of thyme and juniper. Floral notes lean towards a very intense red rose, with time a more meaty character comes through like freshly hung salami.
In the mouth the 11' is a little lighter on its feet but still there are plenty of tannins but a bright acidity keeping freshness of red and black fruit.

14 months in French oak (2nd use)
Good, fresh vintage
Beautiful nose showing complex and powerful black cherry and sweet liquorice notes with a real granitic minerality along with intense violets, light touch of wet tabacco and wild herbs. Amazing structure.
The palate shares this structure and has blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry with a very long, ripe finish. Outstanding but still a pup!

The fruit here is inky black with notes of black olive, tar, graphite and rich morello cherry, damson, cigar box.
In the mouth this is powerful but fresh backed up by rich tannins, this is really starting to drink well though the tannic structure and good level of acidity that will let it age for a long, long time. Very lovely finish that has the freshness and taste of the berries you would pick straight from the vine.

It takes about an hour and a half for the wine to come to its own terms, but the it becomes one of the grandest Grenache i have ever tasted
